JON'S Story
Jon Powers is President and co-founder of CleanCapital. He leads the company’s external presence across strategic partnerships, industry leadership, and public policy, representing CleanCapital in the forums that shape the distributed generation market. Jon plays a central role in the industry coalitions and policy advocacy that support long-term growth across the sector, and his work strengthens CleanCapital’s standing with capital partners, policymakers, and industry peers.
His passion for clean energy stems from his combat service with the U.S. Army in Iraq. He later went on to help revolutionize the Army’s energy program, first as Special Adviser for Energy to the Assistant Secretary of the Army and later as Director of Outreach for the Army’s Energy Initiatives Task Force. In 2012, President Obama appointed Jon as Federal Chief Sustainability Officer.
Jon is a graduate of John Carroll University and Johns Hopkins University. He is the proud husband to Erin and father of three wonderful children.
